"Vida De Artista (An Artist's Life)"
Released: May 2011 CD

“Vida de Artista (An Artist’s Life)” marks the debut album of Brazilian-born Luciano Antonio, recorded after his studies and rise in Chicago’s jazz scene. Featuring original compositions that blend Bossa Nova, samba, and Brazilian folk with jazz sensibilities, the album highlights his lyrical guitar technique, warm vocals, and roots in folk melody. Drawing on his upbringing in Parana and classical guitar training, Vida de Artista carries both rhythmic sophistication and melodic expressiveness—showcasing Lucas’s evolving voice in the landscape of Brazilian jazz.
Luciano’s performance takes the audience on a tour of Brazil by presenting a wide variety of Brazilian compositions combined with his own originals. In his Performance Luciano contrasts songs that have rich and complex harmonies and melodies with simple rhythms against songs that have simple harmonies and melodies with very complex rhythms, and the dynamics range from pure solo guitar and voice to the full sound of the rich Brazilian percussion in a fascinating musical way.
